The Rongai Route is the only trail that approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the northern side near the Kenyan border. Known for its quieter trails, gradual ascent, and beautiful wilderness, it is an excellent choice for climbers seeking a less crowded experience with a high chance of spotting wildlife during the lower sections of the climb. The route offers diverse scenery, excellent acclimatization, and descends via the Marangu Route, providing a varied trekking experience from start to finish. The 7 day itinerary includes an additional acclimatization day, significantly improving summit success rates while allowing climbers to enjoy the spectacular scenery at a comfortable pace.

After an early breakfast, depart for Rongai Gate where park formalities are completed before continuing to the Rongai Trailhead. Begin your trek through cultivated farmland before entering the tranquil montane forest. The gradual ascent leads to Simba Camp, where your mountain crew will have your camp prepared upon arrival.

Today's trek continues across open moorland with magnificent views of the Kenyan plains and Kibo Peak. The gentle ascent provides excellent acclimatization as you make your way to Second Cave Camp. In the afternoon, your guide may lead a short acclimatization walk before dinner.

After breakfast, cross the vast alpine desert known as "The Saddle," which stretches between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. The landscape becomes increasingly barren as you approach Kibo Hut, your base camp before the summit attempt. After an early dinner, your guide will conduct a detailed summit briefing before you rest ahead of the midnight ascent.

Shortly after midnight, begin your summit attempt via Hans Meyer Cave and Gilman's Point before continuing along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa.
After celebrating your achievement and taking photographs at the summit, descend to Kibo Hut for a short rest and lunch before continuing to Horombo Hut for your final night on the mountain.
