7-Day Mount Kilimanjaro Climb via the Marangu Route

The Marangu Route, popularly known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” is the oldest and most established trail on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the only route that offers comfortable mountain hut accommodation, making it an excellent choice for climbers seeking a more comfortable trekking experience.

This 5-day ascent is ideal for trekkers with previous high altitude hiking experience or those with limited time. The journey takes you through lush rainforest, scenic moorland, alpine desert, and finally to the snow-capped summit of Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa.

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. After check-in, your head mountain guide will conduct a detailed pre-climb briefing, equipment check, and answer any questions before your adventure begins. After breakfast, depart for Marangu Gate, approximately four hours from Arusha. Following registration formalities, begin your trek through the lush tropical rainforest, home to towering trees, colourful birdlife, and playful colobus monkeys. After a steady ascent, arrive at Mandara Hut, where you will enjoy dinner and your first overnight stay on the mountain. Today's hike takes you out of the rainforest and into the beautiful moorland zone. As the vegetation changes, enjoy sweeping views of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks on clear days while crossing open heathland dotted with giant lobelias and unique alpine plants. Arrive at Horombo Hut in the afternoon and spend the remainder of the day relaxing while enjoying spectacular mountain scenery. Continue your ascent across the alpine desert known as the Saddle, a vast volcanic plain that stretches between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. The gradual climb provides incredible views of Kilimanjaro's rugged landscape. Upon reaching Kibo Hut, enjoy an early dinner and rest before your midnight summit attempt. Just before midnight, begin your summit attempt, climbing steadily over volcanic scree toward Gilman's Point (5,686 m). After witnessing a spectacular sunrise, continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your achievement and capturing memorable photographs, descend to Kibo Hut for refreshments before continuing to Horombo Hut for a well-earned rest.
