This extended 9-day ascent provides additional time at altitude, allowing your body to acclimatize gradually and significantly improving your chances of reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa.
Beginning on the quiet western slopes of the mountain, you’ll journey through pristine rainforest, rolling moorland, alpine desert, dramatic volcanic landscapes, and glacier-covered summit terrain before descending through the lush southern rainforest. After breakfast, depart for Londorossi Gate where registration formalities are completed before beginning your trek. Hike through the lush montane rainforest, keeping an eye out for black-and-white colobus monkeys and other forest wildlife. Arrive at Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp in the afternoon, where your tents will already be prepared for your first overnight on the mountain.
